19 June 2024All over the world, professional and amateur sportsmen and women turn to chiropractic care. Chiropractic not only helps to treat a number of sports-related pathologies, but also to keep athletes in optimum shape and reduce the risk of injury (take the example of AC Milan in football, where the players are monitored by chiropractors as a preventive measure, and this is often the oldest team in the European championship, with results that are not too bad…) and, above all, to improve sporting performance.
Dr Lauro conducted a study evaluating the performance of 50 asymptomatic professional athletes following chiropractic treatment. The athletes were divided into two groups. The athletes in the control group (without chiropractic care) observed an improvement in their performance in 2 of the 11 tests proposed. The group of athletes receiving chiropractic treatment improved in all 11 tests. After six weeks of chiropractic care, the improvement in sports performance was 10.57%. For the test of hand reaction speed in response to a visual stimulus, the control group showed an improvement of less than 1%, while the chiropractic-treated group showed an improvement of 18% after 6 weeks and more than 30% after 12 weeks.
