The causes of cervicobrachial neuralgia are varied, but in the majority of cases they fall within the remit of chiropractors. The 2 main causes correspond to a radicular conflict, the origin of which is either arthrosic, often affecting people over the age of 40, or a herniated disc, particularly affecting younger people. In both cases, the nerve is compressed at its root (as in sciatica) in the lower cervical or upper dorsal vertebrae, causing pain in the arm, forearm, hand, etc. This can lead to loss of sensation, burning along the affected nerve, and even loss of strength and paralysis.
In the current state of knowledge, the use of chiropractic and adjustments seems to be the most appropriate conservative treatment before any more invasive attempts are made.
